Check the NUT Hardware Compatibility List to figure out which driver will work for your UPS. For my USB UPS, the correct driver is usbhid-ups. Update ups.

I have 2 x APC Smart 1000 UPS connected to USB on Dell Optiplex running latest HA OS Nut tools add-on & integration installed.

It will not detect my UPS connected on a USB port. Nut/Diagnostics just stays blank. It looks like it has something to do with rights and user used.

For a quick test, you can set the root option in ups.conf so driver won't drop privileges if started as root.

usbhid-ups brings USB/HID UPS monitoring to NUT on all platforms supporting USB through libusb. It should detect any UPS that uses the HID Power Device Class.
